September Events in Boston: Persia Meets Puglia and the FIRST Boston Wine Week!

Big things are coming to Boston!!  Two big events are coming to our little city in the month of September- and both I feel are incredibly exciting!

First on the calendar:  Persia Meets Puglia, a dinner series kicking off on September 15th and continuing monthly on Tuesdays.  I love the concept of this series- concentrating on the cuisine of both Persia, embodied by the involvement of Lala Rokh located in the picturesque Beacon Hill neighborhood of town, and their sister restaurant Bin 26 Enoteca.  The beauty of this series is that two courses are served at each of the restaurants so the diners feel the full ambiance of each location.  And the travel from one to the next is through the charming streets of Beacon Hill, and is exceptionally short.

The meal is served as a Prix Fixe ($49.00) with an optional beverage pairing ($29 additional).  The menu for the first month sounds delicious!

First Course

Persian Sampler

Borani-Esfanaj (spinach and yogurt)

Kashk-e Bademjan (velvety roast of eggplant)

 I have had the ThreeRamisù at Bin 26 and it is a fantastic display of Tiramisu in three different formats.  Delicious!

The second amazing event is really one for the books!  Boston is hosting it's very FIRST Wine Week!  We all know about Restaurant Week- in fact we're in the midst of it now!- where restaurants all over town, and even outside the city limits offer fabulous deals on three course meals.  No one can deny that this is a great deal, theoretically-however if you're like me I tend to get so excited about saving on the meal, I over indulge on the drinks, and my bill is not quite as cost effective as I might have hoped.  However this year- the smart people at Quarterly Review of Wines, The TV Diner and The Second Glass are sponsoring a week where wine will flow like water.

During the week of September 20 through 26, thirteen restaurants around Boston will be offering selected wines at fractional prices.  How fractional?  $9 a glass, or $32 for a bottle... think about that- you could treat yourself to a bottle of wine normally sold at your favorite restaurant for $90, for just $32.  A sampling of the wines that might be offered?
