To cook or not to cook...

A friend emailed earlier today with a good question... When it is hot out do I prefer to cook or to dine out? It's honestly a great question because my answer is probably the opposite of what you might assume. I despise the heat, I mean really despise it. John can attest that I become increasingly cranky and well not so happy, however even in the face of that I still prefer to cook.

I think it has more to do with the idea that when it is hot out I pay even more attention to what I'm putting into my body and I want to truly satisfy what I'm craving since I'm so miserable being hot. So no matter how toasty warm it is in my kitchen, I love to stand there and put together a meal that I will find truly satisfying.

Tonight, for example, even though it hit 100 degrees here in Boston I rushed home after the gym and grocery store to put together cheesy spicy turkey burgers and a light spinach salad with a homemade gorgonzola vinaigrette. And though by the end John and I joked that I might need a third shower of the day, I was utterly happy to sit and enjoy a delicious meal of my own creation.

So what about you? Do you cook? Or do you banish the kitchen?
