September Events in Boston- Something for Everyone! Chocolate & Wine, Books & Fashion!

Boston is going to be a VERY busy city during the month of September!  There are all sorts of great events going on celebrating everything from chocolate to wine, fashion to literary works.  Luckily, I have all the details for you!

September 7, 2010- October 12, 2010:   Gordon's Fine Wines and Liquors is hosting a "Sip and Savor Spanish Wines" series from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm each Tuesday, starting on September 7 and ending on October 12th.  They invite you, and your friends, to their location in Waltham (894 Main Street) to taste wines from the different regions of Spain, while different instructors each session will be on deck to discuss the wines, and impart a little knowledge with your tasting.  Personally- that's the way I feel any learning should take place- with a little vino!  To top it all off- they will also have tapas platters from Solea Restaurant for you to sample- and sop up some of the wine!

Each session is $20.00, and they are offering packages as well- three for $55.00 and 6 for $105.00.  Please call 781-893-1900 extension 3 to sign up, or visit www.gordonswine.com

September 13, 2010:  International CHOCOLATE Day!  The Bristol Lounge, located in the Four Seasons hotel in downtown Boston, is offering the ultimate in decadence - a dessert buffet bar to celebrate the holiday!  Desserts buffet will be presented by Hotel Chocolat-located just around the corner on Newbury Street.  The buffet, containing everything from truffles, to a "dipping adventure" will be open to all guests at The Bristol who order food, or a delicious chocolate martini- can't beat that as a nod to the greatest sweet ever right?

Of course, The Bristol Lounge is going to try to beat it- any time between September 1 and September tweet #SweetSuite to @FSBoston and you'll be entered to win an overnight stay in one of the luxury suites at the Four Seasons in Boston!  Decadence added on to Decadence!  The prize includes a one night stay, and the opportunity to fill up a shopping bag with chocolates from the source at Hotel Chocolat!  What a blissful way to start a luxurious evening!  The winner will be drawn on September 13th, at 7:00 pm, and the chosen must be present to win!

The Bristol Lounge is in the Four Seasons Hotel: 200 Boylston Street, Boston, MA. For information, please head over to www.fourseasons.com/boston/dining.html or call (617) 351-2037.

September 17, 2010: The Boston Center for Adult Education is hosting a book signing with the co-author of the book EMPIRES OF FOOD: Feast, Famine, and the Rise and Fall of Civilizations, journalist Andrew Rimas. If you haven't gotten a chance to check out the book, it centers on the history of food, and it's fate throughout the ages.  It covers 12,000 years of data, looking at what people have eaten and how it has evolved over time.  During the event, Rimas will also speak to different topics covered in the book, from climate change to sustainability, as well as starvation, and obesity throughout the ages.  This is sure to be a fascinating discussion, and an incredible read for anyone even slightly interested in food.

The event will also feature wines from Gordon's Wines and Liquors, and a selection of hors d’oeuvres, prepared by Executive Chef Matthew Molloy from Beacon Hill Hotel & Bistro.

Please note, this even runs from 6:30 to 8:30 at the Boston Center for Adult Education located at 122 Arlington Street, Boston.  There is no cost to the event, however reservations are required- please book your spot by emailing information@bcae.org.

September 23, 2010: The Beehive in Boston's South End is kicking off Fashion Week this year with stylish bash they are inviting you all to!  They are joining forces with Shag, Uncle Pete’s, Naz Kupelian Salon, and Boldfacers, to offer Boston a party worthy of starting off the Fashion Trail of Fashion Week Boston.  Complimentary passed hors d'oeurves will be on hand, along with Beehive's regular menu and their cash bar, with a few specialty cocktails to assist with the celebrating.

What is the Fashion Trail you may be wondering:
"The Boston Fashion Trail was created as an extension of Boston Fashion Week for those in need of some retail therapy, well deserved pampering, or stylish sustenance, would have a handy resource featuring the most  fashionable retailers, restaurants, salons, spas and other fine establishments providing special offers, in-store events, promotions, and the like during Boston Fashion Week." - Jay Calderin, Founder & Executive  Director of Boston Fashion Week

More information can be found here, but just remember- the party kicking it all off is at The Beehive, 541 Tremont Street, Boston.  Boldfacers.com will be in attendance as well to document the fun- so be sure to live up to Fashion Week and look your best!

That's our round up of the latest events happening in and around Boston throughout September!  Make sure you check them out- should be a great month with something for everyone!  Let me know what you end up heading over to- I can't wait to hear all the stories!!!
